...three...

Comments
  • " is 388 feet (118 m) tall" but wasn't when first constructed? As it reads, the article seems to suggest that the 388 feet made it the second tallest building, but that doesn't seem to be the case based upon the article body
    •  Fixed Yeah, it was originally 21 stories tall, which made it the second tallest building. I clarified that. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Add something in the lede that it's 23 or 26 stories tall?
    •  Done
  • "; this allowed light to illuminate the" light from where?
    •  Fixed Sunlight.
  • "although two more figures" also by Rhind or not?
    • I actually couldn't find out whether Rhind was rehired for these two figures. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • " and a cornice with anthemia" might be my ignorance, but what does anthemia mean?
    • That is the plural of anthemion, which is another term for a palmette, a design that resembles the fan-shaped leaves of a palm tree. I have added that link. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "remains partially visible" from where?
    • plus Added
  • "The steel structure " I think "the internal structure" or even "the internal steel structure" would be clearer here
    •  Done
  • "resulting in a profit of $2,000 per year" Profit for who? From what? because of the additional space or something else?
  • " to ensure that they had instilled "not only its name but also a favorable impression of its operations"" who's being quoted? Also odd bc you go from "their" to "its" in the same sentence.
    •  Fixed I also split the sentence in two. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • " in the neighborhood" in what neighborhood?
    •  Fixed This refers to the Financial District, which is mentioned earlier in the same sentence. I rephrased this a bit. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "one of which included the Continental Insurance Company Building at 100-102 Broadway" what does this add?
    •  Fixed This was one of the lots that comprised part of the American Surety Building's site, and were demolished for the American Surety's construction. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "was the largest price ever paid" the total price, or highest amount per square foot?
    •  Fixed It was the highest total. I have fixed that. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Nine architects entered this competition" so did Price enter?
    • Yes.
  • " the building's plans were modified so that it would have a 21st story" so his initial plan called for 20 stories? I don't think you explicitly state it
    • plus Added
  • When did construction begin?
    • plus Added
  • Did the 5 foot projection end up being constructed?
    • Yes.
  • "and installed a 100-foot-tall (30 m) steel pole" presumably on the top of this building (not the Manhattan Life Building, and certainly not anywhere other than the top, right?)
    •  Fixed Yes, that is correct.
  • "and revealed plans for a $2.5 million annex " annex to what?
    • plus Added
  • "although the New York Herald reported in July 1921" how does 'although' fit in here?
    • minus Removed
  • "Irving Brodsky bought the building" who or what is Brodsky? A company? A real estate developer?
    • plus Added
  • "Kajima International was commissioned" when?
    • After the lease was signed, but not sure about the specific date. It was sometime between 1975 and 1976. epicgenius (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "opened a 35,000-square-foot (3,300 m2) bookstore in the American Surety Building's base in 2003" What's the connection to 9/11?
  • "After the September 11 attacks in 2001 led to the collapse of the World Trade Center nearby, Borders Group opened a 35,000-square-foot (3,300 m2) bookstore in the American Surety Building's base in 2003. The Borders store replaced its destroyed branch in the World Trade Center" Oh I see now, can you make the connection a bit more direct, maybe like "After the September [...] nearby, Borders Group replaced its destroyed branch in the World Trade Center with a 35,000...?
    •  Done
  • " Architecture critic Russell Sturgis praised" when?
    • plus Added
  • "Architecture critic Montgomery Schuyler said" when?
    • plus Added
