Turkish military Twitter as source[edit]

Edits have been to the casualties section sourcing Turkey's Ministry of Defense twitter page, which raise a few problems:

The tweets make no mention of Ain Issa, they only sometimes mention the Peace Spring region. I'm uncertain whether these are necessarily Ain Issa related, perhaps someone more familiar with the conflict can comment on whether these could be somewhere else in the Peace Spring region.
The Turkish military and state media often uses the euphemism "neutralized", which could be either fatalities or people wounded, leaving the numbers ambiguous.
I feel that SOHR is a more unbiased source for the number of casualties (especially since the Turkish twitter sources are simply the same video posted multiple times on different days). Is it reasonable to add a (per Turkey) line to the casualties section? Perhaps this would relieve some edit warring, but maybe it's not reasonable to compromise with repeated unsubstantiated edits.

I have reverted an edit based on this source for now because of these issues and because it has only mentioned 20 "neutralizations" rather than 40 deaths as written. Soapwort (talk) 12:53, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tell Tamr situation[edit]

The shellings are also increasing at the Tell Tamr front over the past few days. If this continues in the following days i definitely think it's worth mentioning. However, it does not fit this article despite the fact that it also takes place in the Peace Spring operation region. Should we expand this article or create a separate one focusing on the Tell Tamr situation (once again if this continues). Any thoughts on this?

I was just thinking about the same thing. I think we can include it in the article if it continues in the following days. There were also related clashes between the regime and the SDF in Qamishli over the SDF's refusal to hand over Ayn Issa to the regime. I know that's far from Ayn Issa but maybe it is still a big enough event to make it worth mentioning in the article. Thepharoah17 (talk) 21:47, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Clashes in Qamishli were over petty drama as far as I am aware. I don't think it's worth an article or a mention unless it expands. It's happened many times in the past. I don't currently support adding Tal Tamir content to the article simply because it's not relevant to an article about Ayn Issa clashes. However, if the fighting continues in Tal Tamir I would be open to either options: merging the page to a new one for SDF-SNA/Turkey clashes or making a Tal Tamir page. The latter might be preferred since it might be clunky to consolidate all the conflict info into one article. On the other hand, from a reader perspective it might be easier to digest as a single page. Soapwort (talk) 00:26, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
