I am aware that nearly every college football team page on Wikipedia uses "12:00 p.m." instead of "noon." However, WP:TIME does not make exception to this rule simply because lots of pages don't follow the rule. I know it would be an enormous task to change every page to comply with this policy. I have suggested that the MOS be amended to allow for the use of "12:00 p.m." but that did not reach consensus. After that point I began to change a "12:00 p.m." to a "noon" every time I would come across one, and would make it a point to ensure the SEC teams are in compliance. So although the rule doesn't seem to be followed, we must not change correct time formats to incorrect time formats simply because the standardization as a whole goes against the MOS rule. The wording of the rule incorporates the word "usually," different from the last time I have read it. Being away as a full-time student gives time for things to change indeed. Benhen1997 04:29, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

so how adamant are you to use noon instead of 12:00 p.m.? as you noted, most year pages have 12:00 p.m. as standard, and i'm trying to get the pages looking as consistent as possible given my available time. I'll continue to try to standardize the pages as I go...but it will look nice if we can get the pages all looking the same, and its less work going to 12:00 p.m.....and it's a small issue....Pvmoutside (talk) 04:43, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah the MOS using "usually" for that rule lessens the "hard-and-fastness" of the rule. I too am one in favor of consistent standardization, and this slight change to the wording of the MOS policy allows for this style of standardization to be permissible. My 2+ year adamance on this issue rests as a result. Benhen1997 05:04, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
