Orphaned references in 2012 in spaceflight[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 2012 in spaceflight's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Bluebook":

  • From 2010 in spaceflight: "Blue Book" (PDF). Sounding Rockets Program Office. NASA. Retrieved 14 June 2010.
  • From 2011 in spaceflight: "Blue Book" (PDF). NASA Sounding Rockets Program Office. Retrieved 28 December 2010.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 11:08, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Launches by Russian Federal Space Agency[edit]

To User:Galactic Penguin SST: Hi, should not we use www.federalspace.ru as a primary source? I understand that there is a info in forums/news that probably FM-6 will be delayed, but let's use www.federalspace.ru as a primary source.Savemaxim (talk) 09:32, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No. If it is out of date, then it doesn't matter how official it might be, it is still out of date and therefore should be given no weight whatsoever. --W. D. Graham 10:32, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, the delay was actually reported by Interfax: http://www.interfax.ru/politics/txt.asp?id=231515. And even if I can't find an "official" source, it would be difficult to make a reasonable launch schedule with only "official sources", simply because more than 90% of them are not notable to the general public, so usually I can only rely on forum posts or news articles to get a launch date for most of these launches. On the other hand, I would agree with Savemaxim to cite every PAST launch with a reliable source, as one could almost always find a suitable source for them. I'll do that later today for this article. Galactic Penguin SST (talk) 13:14, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suborbital flights[edit]

I would like to kindly suggest that suborbital flights are moved to another list (probably in their own page) There seem to be a lot of them, and they seem to be updated less often, with a few of them lingering in the previous month with no set date or result. Additionally, they are not included in most of the other sections with the summaries. RubenGarciaHernandez (talk) 12:18, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strongly oppose. This is a list of spaceflights, not a list of satellite launches, and using that as a cutoff would be somewhat arbitrary, and would exclude flights such as Mercury-Redstone 3 from other parts of the timeline. --W. D. Graham 12:22, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion: instead, we could highlight the suborbital flights differently, say with a different background color. (In my opinion, the Karman line is a far more arbitrary cutoff than minimum orbital velocity.) --IanOsgood (talk) 17:36, 18 August 2012 (UTC) I like IanOsgood's suggestion. Suspected Iranian launch failure: to list or not to list?[edit]

The latest issue of Jane's Intelligence Review has presented evidence that Iran has launched the Fajr satellite in late May as once scheduled, but failed to reach orbit. Since we don't even know on which day it was launched (unlike the more compelling case in August 2008), and the analysis still has a bit of uncertainty in it, should we put an entry here? Galactic Penguin SST (talk) 22:16, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is pretty certain there was a launch, and several other reliable sources are stating that it launched on 23 May (which was the originally scheduled launch date, and no short-term delay was announced), so I'd go with that. --W. D. Graham 18:15, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flags glitch?[edit]

Why have all the Russian launches now got an Israeli flag next to them? Is that a wikimarkup glitch or vandalism? — Michaelmas1957 (talk) 10:52, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed for finding two articles on Jane's publications[edit]

I am trying to find out how to properly cite two articles, one on the Jane's Intelligence Review and another on the Jane's Defense Weekly, about two possible Iranian launch failures in 2012:

  • Nick Hansen, Rocket science - Iran's rocket programme, Jane's Intelligence Review (1 October 2012), P.?
  • ?, Analysing Iran’s satellite launch failure (?), Jane's Defense Weekly (21 November 2012), P.5

Unfortunately I'm missing some of the details listed above to make a proper citation for these articles (they are the only sources AFAIK about them), and neither I nor my university have subscription to either of them. If anyone here have access to these two publications, please put the proper citation here and I'll put them on this article. Thanks!

Galactic Penguin SST (talk) 03:49, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The putative October 2012 Iranian launch failure may actually be a test flight of the Kavoshgar-5 suborbital rocket (http://www.b14643.de/Spacerockets_1/Rest_World/Safir-1B-IRILV/Description/Frame.htm; http://www.b14643.de/Spacerockets_1/Rest_World/Safir-1B-IRILV/Description/Frame.htm). 68.4.28.33 (talk) 02:16, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Vahe Demirjian[reply]

Satmex 8 Launch[edit]

Given the Proton failure yesterday, this is almost certainly postponed. Should we take it off now, or wait for official confirmation? 82.42.214.246 (talk) 22:52, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm waiting for a new tentative launch date before I move it to the 2013 list; in any case I'll move it during the next few hours, given that it certainly will not launch before any results came off the investigation, and that means 2013.... Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Iran launch in September 2012[edit]

There was a Safir launch in 22 September 2012 which does not exist in this list [1] [2] Barecode (talk) 14:57, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
