Mastodon Performance[edit]

Might it be prudent to add the mastadon performance into this? They played with Joshua homme for one, and Brent Hinds ended up with a concussion from a system of a down member's punch to the head.--85.180.177.149 (talk) 13:22, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Britney Spears Body Double?[edit]

What the hell is this entry for Britney Spears that she had a body double performing as her last night? I don t think this is true, I really don't. I haven't heard this anywhere else, there is no citiation on the page for it, and it seems really out there and ridiculous. She was in front of millions of people, I don't believe some look-a-like could fool that many. Out-of-synch lip-synching. Lethargic and weak movements that seemed choreographed by a dance instructor for a nursing home. The paunch in place of Spears' once-taut belly. At times she just stopped singing altogether, as if even she knew nothing could save her performance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The fifth burning bush (talkcontribs) 01:45, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm removing it right now, although I do not have time to make a new entry, I ask anyone reading this to please do this, or, if this is indeed true, include a citation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.29.69.231 (talk) 21:21, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Logo 140x105.jpg[edit]

Image:Logo 140x105.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Never again will I trust MTV. My Chemical Romance having no nominations is completely %^&$*#@$! 209.247.5.43 23:46, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Xtremejet I know! That's complete bullshit! This is the "MTV VIDEO Music Awards", not the "MTV Most popular R&B/Rap song awards". What happened to the "Best *genre* Video" awards? Damn, I used to complain about how horrid the recent VMAs have been that just focus on R&B/Rap have been, but now, I miss those days.

Yeah, I'd say MTV is too biased in general when in comes to the genre of the music. Only five rock videos (two nominated for two awards)? Seriously, I'd love to know why MTV got rid of (or at least didn't announce yet, which I doubt) all of the genre awards and technical awards - it should be noted in the article, with a reliable source. On that note, what about the MTV2 Award and Viewer's Choice Award? --GVOLTT How's my editing?\My contribs 13:31, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think it's silly that there were just Rap/R&B awards last night... but come on. The likes of My Chemical Romance and Fallout Boy deserve to be locked in a vault and blasted out into space or sank to the bottom of the deepest, darkest sea. It's awful, plain and simple. Rock has degenerated into mediocre, fashion and character driven fluff for the radio that simply emulates and rehashes things that have been done to death until it loses all meaning. There hasn't been a sincere movement in rock since Grunge and Alternative in the 90s, except maybe a few mainstream bands like the Silversun Pickups and Modest Mouse.

And to call something like Fallout Boy punk is a travesty. Go listen to real Punk rock, from the '70s and '80s, it's absolutely nothing like what the radio would have you believe in punk.

Britney Shouldn't Be On Performers List.

Britney Spears should not be on the performers list. Timbaland dumbed down these reports at the Nominations Party. He stated that it would be a "headache" if she were to perform. 89.100.184.159 01:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)E-To-The-OIN[reply]

I think there is a very strong chance Britney Spears will perform. My reasoning: Lately MTV has been airing commercials of Nelly Furtado asking a hair stylist what sort of hair cut she should get and he pulls out a buzzer and Nelly smiles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.207.101.126 (talk) 18:17, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

That may be true but she is still unconfirmed to be performing, so this is misleading. I myself think she will perform but that's just my opinion and based on hearsay.89.100.184.159 03:05, 30 August 2007 (UTC)E-To-The-OIN[reply]

Why is Britney Spears listed as confirmed (when there is no word about that from MTV or from her), while Justin Timberlake was confirmed as a performer in two MTV news, yet people keep taking him out of the list?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.107.4.202 (talk) 13:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add Image[edit]

Can someone that knows how to add images to a page add the 2007 VMA logo found at www.mtvpress.com ? The VMA articles need images :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.212.133.100 (talk) 20:38, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Britney peice very one sided[edit]

There is no mention of Crris Angel backing out at the last minute. Or that the hotel and mtv desided not to let Spears and Angel do the original routine they had been working on for the pasttwo weeks. She did ok for coming up with a routine in a about an hour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dalielah (talkcontribs) 05:23, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you have evidence of that, let's see it (in the form of a reliable source). What you've added to the article so far is nothing but speculation and full of opinion. The KZA 06:40, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"reports say" and "reportably" were used. Everything else on the page is nothing more than opinion.Dalielah 12:35, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most everything there has been sourced, and is listed. Everything in the article is representing the common neutral opinion, which is the goal of Wikipedia. The KZA 12:41, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Portion is not neutral in the slightest, it needs some serious work. Nearly every word in opinion. Not to mention there is alot is missing...Silverman comment on Britney's children. No host. West's hissy fit. And so much more. The page is very half a**ed. It should be either done right, or combined with MTV Video Music AwardsDalielah 05:33, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The tone of the article is neutral and represents the opinions of the public, media and the entertainment industry. A lot of it is even quotes from other musicians in the audience. I understand you're upset about the incident, but there's unfortunately not a lot of praise or positive reaction about the performance that can be written about. If you find a reliable source that has a different opinion, we can use it to write more into the article.
Silverman's comments had nothing to do with the performance itself, and would be irrelevent in that section.
Please stop removing content from the article. The KZA 06:27, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neither did the no host issue or West's hissy fit, obviously I was speaking about the page as a whole, not just the section on Britney. I would like to know where the "proof" came from that she was drunk. Britney's heel breaking can be seen in the video. Perhaps you did not watch the proformance.Dalielah 06:44, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

should we add a section of Mr. West's breakdown behind the scenes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-631TgPP2s —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.138.41.139 (talk) 04:02, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Britney Spears' performance[edit]

Nowhere in the large section that talks about Spears' performance does it mention her heel on her shoe breaking, which is pretty notable during the performance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.244.49.113 (talk) 00:07, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another mistake is the quoting of Rihanna laughing. While she was laughing, the laughs were not for Britney, but for the pole-dancer dancing on her table. It is pretty obvious watching the video; you can even see the pole moving and Rihanna looking at it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.107.82.131 (talk) 17:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, however the people who seem to "control" the editing of this page are very excited to have so much negitive to post. Good luck trying to get anything else on the page.Dalielah 16:14, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty much a non-neutral POV push to make Spears look bad. Also the entire section unbalances the entire article putting way too much weight on Spears' performance. She only appeared for a few minutes on the show, but you wouldn't know it from the length of that section. Pretty much not in the spirit of WP:BLP. --Eqdoktor 09:52, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2008 MTV VMAs[edit]

Does anyone know where I can find where to vote for these awards? I heard that it will be hosted by 50 Cent but I can't find any information as of yet. Is that because they wait until mid-year to allow viewers to vote? TeePee-20.7 (talk) 13:15, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
