The Gauteng Women's Development League is a regional girls soccer league in Gauteng. The league is ran by SAFA Gauteng, and features U/14 and U/16 teams from the Local Football Associations (LFAs) that are under SAFA Gauteng.
History[edit]
The initial season featured 10 teams and was launched on 16 April 2023 with only the U/15 age group available.[1][2] In 2024, the league added the U/14 league and switch the U/15 age group to U/16.[3][4]
In the 2024 season opener for the U/16 division, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies U/16 scored a record 14 goals in a 14-1 in over West Youth Academy.[5][6]
In the U/14 division, the first matches were played on the 24th of March 2024 which saw 30 goals being scored by in the season opener.[7]
