Campaigning organizations[edit]

War On Want & AID/WATCH don't seem to be charities - more like development campaigning organizations. If at some point there are enough organizations like this, they'll deserve their own category. --Singkong2005 05:01, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

War on Want is a charity in that it is registered as one in the UK and has a charity number. Although they are very campaigny, they do support overseas organisations so they're sort of both a development campaigning organisation and a charity...Corington 10:03, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that "charity" is an ambiguous term: In the UK it means tax exempt status (e.g., "non-profit") while in the US it refers to charitable purposes. Propose that we merge this category to Category:Development organizations or rename to Category:Development non-profit organizations. --Lquilter (talk) 20:13, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
