Styles, Movements, and Trends[edit]

Some of these are certainly styles, but others might be better classified as Architectural Movements or Architectural Trends. Just a thought for now, anyone interested in helping differentiate them later?

Architectures by nationality[edit]

I added a bunch of stupid, mean, and rude articles, though they may not totally qualify as architectural styles (for instance Japanese architecture - which I added - covers several periods, but there's no proper articles for separate periods) that would be a shame not to have here. Namely, Cambodian architecture, Incan architecture, Japanese architecture, Chinese architecture, Indian architecture (note: I'm going to add some more, this is not exhaustive). Also added Category:Architecture by nationality as a sub category.

Reason being that I couldn't find what I was looking for while browsing this category, due to most architectural styles listed here being, well, shall I say almost entirely "western". Equendil Talk 04:20, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Split to Architecture by style[edit]

Following Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2019_September_15#Category:Architectural_styles, I have split this category in the way that I intended.

@Johnbod: you are welcome to review and improve upon this. – Fayenatic London 22:18, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't seem complete - for example the buildings that all of Category:Territorial Style, except the main article, aren't in "A by style". You said you'd do it, & I'd rather hold you to that, thanks! Johnbod (talk) 02:33, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I thought it was sufficient that that was within it via Category:Architecture by country and style > Category:American architectural styles.
Are you suggesting that all the sub-cats of, say, Category:American architectural styles which do not end with (in this case) "…in the United States" should also be directly within "Architecture by style"? I can see the argument.
Presumably this should exclude categories that are already within other sub-categories by style such as Category:Revival architectural styles or Category:Vernacular architecture. – Fayenatic London 11:47, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
