Category:Jesuit cardinals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category includes anyone who was at some point a Jesuit and at some point a cardinal, even if never both a Jesuit and a cardinal at the same time. For example, Carlo Odescalchi (1785–1841) resigned from the College of Cardinals in 1838 to enter the Jesuits; Péter Pázmány (1570–1637) was relieved of his Jesuit vows in order to become archbishop of Esztergom, and he later became a cardinal. Others are included even if their time as either Jesuit or cardinal was brief.
