Renaming GLAM/JHU page=[edit]

Hi there! I see you were the primary editor of the GLAM/JHU page for the 2012 project between Hopkins and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. I am about to launch a GLAM project page that will encompass all Johns Hopkins Wikipedia projects--editathons, class projects, article assessment, etc. Would you consider allowing us to use the GLAM/JHU page for this and moving your existing content there to a "Projects" tab within the bigger site I am making, or possibly turning it into a case study similar to https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/GLAM/Case_studies/Walters_Art_Museum? I'm happy to see that Hopkins has already explored Wikipedia through your project! Thanks, Flappable (talk) 22:15, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and Society Comm535 Project[edit]

Hello Kippelboy! I got your name from my professor Andrew Lih. I am currently working on my final project for my Wikipedia class and could use your expertise. I am comparing Spanish Wikipedia and English Wikipedia to see if there is any difference between how certain topics are covered depending on the region and its culture. Also I would like to ask a user like you who works on both Wikipedia to help me understand these differences (if they exist) and why do you think they happen. My most important question has to be: why do you think that English Wikipedia has over 4 million articles while Spanish Wikipedia only has over 1 million even if the regions that Spanish Wikipedia services are more than that of English Wikipedia? I might have more questions further along the project and will keep posting them here so I can get your professional opinion. Thank you very much for your help,

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Centre de Documentació i Museu de les Arts Escèniques, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Magic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Gavanzo[edit]

Gavanzo (talk · contribs) is basically a single-purpose account set up to edit war over the Spanish/Catalan controversy on the side of the Spanish. Your edit to Joan Miro is of no avail, he will fight you over it tooth and nail. Sorry but he appears to have watchlisted several high-profile Catalan bios and pops up to revert anyone who disagrees with him. Elizium23 (talk) 04:51, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy on the side of Spanish? I have in a watchlist some articles that are usually not following the Wikipedia standards widely discussed. Evidence: Wikipedia:NCGN#Multiple_local_names and Wikipedia_talk:Article_titles/Archive_31#Spanish.2FCatalan_double_names. Fight against you? I am using in Antoni_Gaudí the formula that you agreed with someone else in Talk:Salvador_Dalí#Born_in_Catalonia ! . And my last edit in Joan Miró was a revertion from this one http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Joan_Mir%C3%B3&diff=560589481&oldid=557706857 , an edit with no justification, and no comments. So, Elizium23 (talk · contribs), what is your accusation? What am i doing wrong? Gavanzo (talk) 07:45, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, I just took the "March" header out as of now to make it look cleaner, not a problem for it returning. Ill use the cite tab next time, I know how for the most part when editing an article but didnt know if it was the same protocol for a number source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doucet3 (talkcontribs) 18:39, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Alfons Borrell i Palazón[edit]

Hello Kippelboy,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Alfons Borrell i Palazón for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. valereee (talk) 20:34, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the speedy of course; the editor involved needs some counseling. DGG ( talk ) 20:37, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Yves Bélorgey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Thanks for reaching out to that teacher in Barcelona, as described on the education board. It always is stressful to see that a teacher is trying hard to have a class contribute, but for people at that board to be powerless to offer them support. Anything that you can say or do is a help. If you have something to share later, please report back with an update. If the class needs help from the education program in English them have the professor or class post to the board. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on TERMCAT requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.termcat.cat/en. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi Kippelboy, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Multilingual pageviews[edit]

A while back you asked me about adding a multilingual option to Pageviews Analysis. Well, I've got a brand new tool that meets this need up and running at toollabs:langviews. Let me know what you think! It's sort of beta-ish; sometimes queries for certain projects will fail. I'm working to figure that out, but hoping people will enjoy what I've got so far. Ping me back or write on my talk page if you've got any feedback, would love to hear it. Best MusikAnimal talk 16:29, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kippelboy! How are you? Just a quick observation, for all your impetus you are laaagging behind in the Peace_Treaties_in_Art_30_x_30_Challenge at this moment, I am concerned ;) Salut! Iñaki LL (talk) 07:13, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hola Kippelboy, ¿cómo va? It is a shame we could not count on your expertise on the matter for the Peace Treaties in Art Challenge:), no worries! I was wondering, here I will need your help, I have the badge on the right, but does not show correctly, do you have any knowledge by chance how that can be fixed? Digital Anthropology research[edit]

Hello Kippelboy, My name is Stephanie Barker and I am a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently enrolled in a Digital Anthropology class, which attempts to answer how the digital world affects culture and how culture affects the digital world. For my final project I am doing an ethnography on women Wikipedia users and as a member of the WikiProject Women page I was hoping I could ask you some questions about your experiences editing Wikipedia pages. 1. Have you ever been locked into an intense editing war? If yes, please explain the situation to me. 2. How did you become interested in editing Wikipedia pages and did you have any initial fears/hesitations when you started editing pages? 3. Have you ever been a victim of a mass deletion or other vandalism on Wikipedia? If yes, please explain the situation to me. 4. How would you describe your gender? 5. Is there anything else you would like to share with me about your experiences as a Wikipedia editor? I would like you to know that I am only sharing my research with my professor and the other students in my class. If you would like me to send you a copy of my final project, I would be more than happy to! Sincerely, Stelba90 (talk) 01:06, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I've started a new initiative, the Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. It's a long term goal to bring about 10,000 article improvements to the UK and Ireland. Through two contests involving just six or seven weeks of editing so far we've produced over 1500 improvements. Long term if we have more people chipping it and adding articles they've edited independently as well from all areas of the UK then reaching that target is all possible. I think it would be an amazing achievement to see 10,000 article improvements by editors chipping in. If you support this and think you might want to contribute towards this long term please sign up in the Contributors section. No obligations, just post work on anything you feel like whenever you want, though try to avoid basic stubs if possible as we're trying to reduce the overall stub count and improve general comprehension and quality. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:43, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedian in Residence BoF at Wikimania 2017[edit]

Hello!

My name is David Alves (User:Horadrim~usurped), and I'm an Wikipedian in Residence at RIDC NeuroMat (User:Horadrim). I've reach your contact through the Wikimedian in residence page in Outreach. As you may know, Wikimania 2017 is coming! I am here because, as a fellow WiR, I believe this would be a great opportunity for us to share experiences, discuss difficulties and exchange solutions, creating a community among us capable of supporting in other projects that would benefit from residents. In that sense, I have submitted a proposal of a Birds of a Feather activity to Wikimania that you can check out here. I hope to count with your support in this project and would like to invite you to join us if you participate in Wikimania. In case of any doubts, please feel free to contact me, either in my talk pages or by e-mail at david.alves(at)outlook.com.

Thank you very much! ‎Horadrim~usurped (talk) 00:33, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Asian Month 2017: Invitation to Participate[edit]

Hello! Last year, you signed up to participate in Wikipedia Asian Month (WAM) 2016 on the English Wikipedia. The event was an international success, with hundreds of editors creating thousands of articles on Asian topics across dozens of different language versions of Wikipedia.

I'd like to invite you to join us for Wikipedia Asian Month 2017, which once again lasts through the month of November. The goal is for users to create new articles on Asian-related content, each at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words in length. Editors who create at least four articles will receive a Wikipedia Asian Month postcard!

Also be sure to check out the Wikipedia Asian Art Month affiliate event - creating articles on Asian art topics can get you a Metropolitan Museum of Art postcard!

If you're interested, please sign up here for the English Wikipedia. If you are interested in also working on other language editions of Wikipedia, please visit the meta page to see other participating projects. If you have any questions, please visit our talk page.

Thank you!

- User:SuperHamster and User:Titodutta on behalf of The English Wikipedia WAM Team

This will be the last message you receive from the English Wikipedia WAM team for being a 2016 participant. If you sign up for WAM 2017, you will continue receiving periodic updates on the 2017 event.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jordi Borràs i Abelló requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October![edit]

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 26[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Jason Stanley, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CCCB (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your draft article, Draft:Àlex Susanna[edit]

Hello, Kippelboy. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Àlex Susanna".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 17:04, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anarchism[edit]

Hi Kippelboy,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 01:59, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, long time ...[edit]

I saw your Gemma Galdon tweet and joined in "as its a wiki"! and we hadn't worked together for a while. I think I have added some more good stuff and I thought this would look good at "Did You Know" on the en:wiki. The draft nomination is below. I removed some of the stuff in the lede which talked about the UN etc etc as this wasn't mentioned much later. Great if you could restore that stuff with citations to the governments etc that she has worked with. The key citation in the hook refers to her being identified as "changing the world" by the BBC. That sits behind a paywall from my browser - could you confirm the text? Roger aka Victuallers (talk) 10:04, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is your final warning. Further violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy will result in you being blocked from editing. — Diannaa (talk) 12:29, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Diannaa. First of all: Sorry about that. I'm a long time Wikipedia editor and public advocate on Wikipedia. I didn't knew that the text I published was already published somewhere else & copyrighted. I'm fully aware of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. It was just a mistake. Will double check next time. That said, I must said that I'm a bit surprised about your "final warning" message. If you look at my SUL stats, you may check I'm a long time contributor, and we all do mistakes every once in a while. I know that patrolling, reverting and deleting is not an easy task to do. And that you need to deal with a lot of spam and trolls: I have done it dozens of times in other language version wikis. But a kinder message would be much more appreciated. It may help people & newbies to keep on trying to improve Wikipedia and learn how to do it. IMHO a "Final warning" message, is not the best option. That said, I must apology again for the mistake, and want to thank you for your time trying to keep this project alive. Regards! Kippelboy (talk) 07:39, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On 9 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Biblioteca Gabriel García Márquez, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Biblioteca Gabriel García Márquez), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:35, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Registered Technology Transfer Professional has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability, sources are all involved with this, and 500 persons in 9 year isn't really evidence that this is widely known otherwise.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
