Brateyevsky District[edit]

Wikipedia Stories Project[edit]

Hi!

My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I'm scouring user pages looking for inspiring, motivating and interesting stories of how Wikipedia has affected the lives of people. I'm asking questions like "How has Wikipedia changed your life?", "What's the most interesting story you have about Wikipedia?" and "Has Wikipedia ever surprised you?"

Last year, we used the annual fundraiser as a way to show the world who it is who actually writes Wikipedia. We featured editors from Brazil, Ukraine, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, India, United States and England. This campaign was a huge success, resulting in the most financially successful fundraising campaign ever. It was also a campaign that stayed true to the spirit of Wikipedia, educating the public that this free top-5 website is created by volunteers like you and I.

This year we want to highlight more Russian-language Wikipedia editors, so I am in the process of planning a trip to Russia to interview editors.

If you or someone you know (or have heard about) has been positively affected by Wikipedia, or have something interesting to say about Wikipedia I'd very much like to hear about it!

Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project, or if you know someone else with whom I should speak.

Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please ask! I will answer as soon as I can. I apologize for any poor translation of this letter, I am using Google-translate. I hope it makes you laugh :)

Thank you for your time,

Creation of the article "2019 in Russia" in English Wikipedia[edit]

Hello, Brateevsky. Happy New Year to you! 2019 is coming soon. Can you creat the article "2019 in Russia" in English Wikipedia?
123.150.182.177 15:57, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello! And Happy New Year too! Yeah, 2019 is coming (and already comes in Siberia, for example). What about article...English Wikipedia is not my main Wikipedia. :) Anyway, I think, some events should already came in Russia in 2019, unless the atricle will be empty and even be deleted. I think it's better to create the article at least in January, when there wiil be information for it. It's the best decision now. But I can add to article some facts and improve the article, if there were some problems with it. You can see this category on Commons and this category to fill the article. :) --Brateevsky (talk to me) 16:09, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of supermarket chains in Russia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Armavir (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Wlbw68 (talk) 18:33, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

--Brateevsky (talk to me) 19:36, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wlbw68 (talk) 22:01, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Zdraste! I've recently been expanding Marina Devyatova's article on the English wiki. Since I'm neither a native speaker of English/Russian, you may want to take a look at the article. Help with Russian sources[edit]

Hi there. I am new to wikipedia and would like to ask your help with something. I saw your user listed on the WikiProject for Russia.

I noticed that the English-language Wikipedia articles for a lot of lesser-known Russian and eastern European historical figures are often littered with spelling and grammatical errors (not to mention almost entirely lacking in actual information).

I basically rewrote the articles for two figures in particular: Pavel Petrovich Blonsky, and Lev Kassil. The problem being, I am extremely limited insofar as what sources I can use. I don't speak Russian, and Blonsky for instance only has one somewhat-reputable source on his biographic details in English.

My question being, is whether or not you know any users who are willing to properly source and "flesh out" the details of the articles that I mentioned, direct from the Russian-language sources? If not, are there any Russian sources/sites you could recommend checking out?

Thank you very much and sorry for the random message about all of this. Have a nice day. MunsterManicotti5092 (talk) 07:24, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Custom signature fix needed[edit]

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
