Description

AWM Caption: North Korea. October 1950. The last action picture taken in Korea of the late 2/37504 Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Charles Hercules Green DSO (left). Here he is returning with Brigadier Coad, Commanding the British Commonwealth Brigade (centre), from their reconnaissance when the Australian battalion encountered opposition a half mile east of Chongju on the morning of 29 October. Lt Col Green was killed the following evening just as he turned in to sleep after the Australian's victorious two day fight for the township. Note the US tank in the background.
